Dolow, which currently hosts one of the largest groups of internally displaced persons, is witnessing an influx people fleeing from the drought in search of food, water and better lives but now finding themselves living in makeshift homes without receiving any aid so far.

The Somali displaced families go there because they lost everything they have and couldn't find another way to feed their children. But coming to Dollow was not an easy task for the majority of them as they had to travel an average of 200 to 300 KM on foot and finally face the lack of humanitarian assistance in a place, they thought it would provide them better life. 

The people in the Dolow camp find themselves in a very difficult situation as they don't have shelter, food, or water, not to mention access to education.

The vast number of the displaced families who reached Dolow as a result of the drought, which hit 90% of the country and has affected half its population, are women and children.

Authorities in Dolow said the camps have become overcrowded by the recent influx of those who fled from drought mostly from the Bay, Bakol and Gedol regions. 

The current drought threatens people's lives if they are not rescued in time, the situation is very serious due to the acute shortage of water, food and medicine.
