Donation for earthquake victims in Palu

593.67 RM Collected Of 2000.00 Goal

On 28 September 2018, a large magnitude of 7.5 earthquakes struck the neck of the capital Palu, Indonesia. Following a mainshock, a localized tsunami struck Palu, sweeping shore-lying houses and buildings on its way. The combined effects of the earthquake and tsunami led to the deaths of an estimated 4,340 people. The earthquake also caused major soil liquefaction in areas in and around Palu. In a few locations, this led to mudflows in which many buildings become submerged causing hundreds of deaths with many more missing. The liquefaction was considered to be the largest in the world and was deemed as rare. A recce was conducted by BRAVO Project team on 2-7 November 2019 to make a survey about the conditions and set the mission of this volunteering project.

ISSUES REPORTED FROM THE PREVIOUS RECCE

-The survivors from the disaster mostly had lost their families which lead to demotivation to continue living, had post-traumatic stress disorder that affects their physical and psychosocial life cycle. -The damages of houses due to the earthquake and tsunami forcing thousands of people to live in temporary shelters and tents. They built a treehouse and the buildings are not so strong. -Their basic necessities such as clean water supply also interrupted due to massive damages. They only use water from well. -The social interaction between the villagers is not good, as some of the villagers couldn't accept each other.
