COVID-19 outbreak and Movement Control Order

25^th March 2020, COVID-19 has been confirmed to spread in Malaysia with 1,183 people infected and 9 deaths has been announced since the outbreak occurs. Our government has taken immediate action to curb the further growth cases in the country through social distancing. Hence, a Movement Control Order has been announced by our Prime Minister to be implemented from 18^th March to 31^st March. With the implementation of Movement Control Order all government and private premises will be closed except those involved in essential services (water, electricity, energy, telecommunications, postal, transportation, irrigation, oil, gas, fuel, lubricants, broadcasting, finance, banking, health, pharmacy, fire, prison, port, airport, safety, defense, cleaning, retail and food supply).

190,534 Poor Families Affected

14 days Malaysia Partial Lock-down leave a great effect to 190,534 poor families in Malaysia, since they couldn’t go out for work and many of them losing their income. This situation especially hard for those who depends on daily income to survive including taxi drivers, street vendor, waiters, part timers  and some of professions that could face financial struggle.

Health Workers ‘The Unsung Hero’

Since the outbreak, our health system is working very hard to help screen and treat patients. 57 hospitals has been dedicated for screening and 28 hospitals were assigned as designated referral centres for Covid-19. Malaysian healthcare workers are front liners who are risking their lives - putting valiant efforts in battling this pandemic and providing care for patients. In order to fight Covid-19, they work multiple shifts, temporarily abandoning their families and some even facing pressure and mental breakdown for overly worked.

Objective of the Fund

This funds will be used to support low income families and those who are economically impacted by COVID-19 as well as to support our health workers who dedicated their time to fight against COVID-19.

• Cover hygiene essentials such as hand sanitizer, mask, gloves and more.
• Food baskets for poor families
• Food packs for front liners and quarantined fellow friends.

Little of Help could reduce burden

In this situation we may not be able to do much other than #stay@home and support each other. However, little help that we send from home could give some relief for the people who are struggling and greatly affected by this pandemic. Hence we hope, everyone can stand with us in this project so we can do something in this critical condition.
