In Palestine, protracted conflict, economic stagnation, and restricted trade and access to resources, coupled with high unemployment and poverty rates, continue to pose serious challenges to the living conditions of Palestinians. Movement restrictions associated with COVID-19 have further increased vulnerabilities.

The humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip – where poverty and food insecurity affect 68.5% of the population respectively – are alarming, and follow the collapse of all productive sectors, basic social services, and infrastructures. Gaza’s socioeconomic fabric is faltering due to the cumulative impact of 16 years of sea, land, and air blockade.

Achieving food security for families and individuals is a very difficult mission for heads of families in the Gaza Strip, due to the worsening blockade on the Strip, which leads day after day to a deterioration of the economic and social situations at the level of the individual and the family.

Moreover, providing adequate and integrated food for families who are more vulnerable and poorer is necessary and vital for these families and their dependents, given the inability of the breadwinners (low wage earners or those who do not work) to provide decent food that contains all the requirements and nutritional values necessary for the health of kids and women.

This urgent assistance aims to contribute to alleviating the suffering of poor families in the Gaza Strip by supporting 500 families with Food Packs containing essential supplies to last an entire month for each family of 5-7 children.
