PROVIDING HOPE FOR THE VULNERABLE, ONE BOX AT A TIME ?

Hope is one of the most powerful feelings in this world. Hope drives us forward to achieve our dream. But, what if there is no hope?

Provide a Box of Hope for the people who need hope! Ramadan Food Basket is an initiative to inspire hope among the needy by elevating their food concern during this holy month of Ramadan. By fulfilling their basic needs and putting smiles on their faces, they will be able to engage more in other aspects of their life, especially their ibadah in this Ramadan.

The Most Basic Needs of Human Life

Do you know about Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs? His theory stated that human beings need to fulfil different types of hierarchical needs to achieve self-actualization and development.
The lowest stage is physiological needs – the basics: food, water, shelter, air.

This month of Ramadan, the main goal of us as Muslims is to nurture our Imaan, to strengthen it, to face the reality of this world. However, the REALITY is that, during this pandemic and economic crisis, not everybody has the ‘luxury’ to concentrate on their ibadah, especially in Congo, where 14% of families cannot afford to buy food, and 47% of the population live under the national poverty line. The country has high poverty and hunger rates and many of the kids suffer from acute malnutrition. More than 12% of children under the age of 5 are underweight and 21.2% experienced slow growth as the parents are unable to prepare nutritious foods. Congolese especially kids, elderly and disabled people are struggling to feed themselves.

These families during Ramadan keep struggling for food, and their thoughts are occupied with the need to survive, to just stay alive.

Ramadan Food Basket thus aims to alleviate this most basic daily needs, so that these communities will be able to at least have more free time, physically and mentally, for ibadah, tasting the beauty of Imaan more than they previously experienced. As such, InchaAllah, we will also taste the sweetness of Imaan in this holy month of Ramadan by inspiring hope in them during this holy and precious month of Ramadan.

Targeting 100 beneficiaries from various communities in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where each food basket contains necessary items with a cost of $30
