The blessed month of Dhul Hijjah is just around the corner and with it the celebratory days of Eid-ul-Adha!

Many of us have plans to go to a farm with our family this Eid and uphold the Sunnah of our Prophet (SAW) by sacrificing an animal and sharing the meat. However, there are some members of this Ummah who aren’t able to partake in this blessed act and are in need of our support. 

When Eid arrives, the destitute and needy families feel helpless

Many villages in Morocco are extremely remote and not as developed as other parts of the country, as a result thousands of families are forced to live in extreme poverty and do not have the resources necessary to provide food and water for their families, which leaves makes many to wonder where their next meal is going to come from.

These are the people whom their Eid feast turns from an opportunity for joy to an occasion of sadness in which the taste of happiness has been lost, and the days of this religious celebration go through them with bitterness and deprivation. In fact, they are really compelled by the severity of poverty to the point that they would hide from views during the day of Eid while people are enjoying eating meats of their sacrifice.

They sadly do so, simply because they are very poor financially as they are either one of these categories;  "elderly people who can’t support themselves and are unable to work",  "widowed women who struggle and work from hand to mouth to feed their kids and need to cover other expenses like rent, water and electricity bills".  Likewise, poor families, orphans, and underprivileged people who suffer financially throughout the year due to the job that earns them basic wages which only brings basic food and nothing more at all. 

Who are we? 

Dar Al- Andalus is a nonprofit/charity Association located in Belgium its main focus is to provide aid and support to the most underprivileged, elderly people, widowed women, orphan and destitute families living in a poor neighborhood in Morocco.

Implemented programs 

We have implemented several projects that are duly approved by the Government of Morocco As part of our ambition and goals to help and support the most and highly needy people, Last year and Dar Al Andalus organized Many charitable programs and activities to collect donation in favor of Moroccan orphan children and for the benefit of widowed women in.

During the Eid of Dul Hijah, 2020,  we distributed Qurbani (sheep) to several number of needy families consisting of widows, orphans, and needy people in the marginalized neighborhoods of Tangier/ Morocco.

In the last month of Ramadan, 2020, more than one hundred of food baskets had been distributed to those affected by the outbreak of Covid-19.

This year 2020, we managed to distribute hundreds of diapers and food baskets to poor families living in rural areas and mountains where there life is very difficult.

Now the question is how can you help?

We aim to buy and distribute 50 Qurban Sheep to 100 families from different categories whereby each family consists of at least 4 to 6  members making the total estimation of 300 to 600  Individual beneficiary of elderly, widowed women with children, orphans, and indigent people living in poor neighborhood and villages. 

1 Qurban sheep is estimated to cost RM 774.  the amount will also include other related expenses during Eid Al Adha.
