Meals Distribution for 76 Teachers and Huffaz in Congo
Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) experiencing the largest displacement crisis in Africa
Conflict continues to affect the lives of millions in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. The condition worsened and more than 2.1 million people were forced to flee their homes with an average of 50 families fleeing every hour each day. The Congolese has not seen peace in more than 20 years, but not many know about their suffering.
14% of families in Congo cannot afford to buy food, 47% of the population lives under the national poverty line
The Congo has high poverty and hunger rates and many of the kids suffer from acute malnutrition. More than 12% of children under the age of 5 are underweight and 21.2% experienced slowed growth as the parents are unable to prepare nutritious foods. Congolese especially kids, elderly and disabled people are struggling to feed themselves.
Congo is the most ignored and forgotten crisis in the world. Congolese is crying for help but no one heard their appeal, hence we came out with this Food for Hunger Project to connect the world with this unheard appeal from the Congolese. This project aims to support 130 teachers and huffaz in the region of Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) for 1 entire month where each meal cost RM10. The total cost for a month will be 22,800
