Assisting Widows and Orphans is among the greatest acts of charity that a person can perform. This vulnerable segment of society holds a special place in our hearts, and Islam has enjoined upon us to help them.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The one who looks after a widow or a poor person is like a Mujahid (warrior) who fights for Allah's Cause, or like him who performs prayers all the night and fasts all the day."

Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "I will be like this in Jannah with the person who takes care of an orphan". Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) raised his forefinger and middle finger by way of illustration.

We are here today to unite in support of Zainab Mohammed Abdi and her four children who are facing extremely challenging circumstances after losing their provider. Zainab is a widow from Somalia in need of our assistance to secure a dignified life for herself and her children, and to meet their basic needs. She is unable to afford her children's education or provide regular meals. They live in a very small house in need of expansion and renovation. Zainab occasionally sells vegetables to secure some of their necessities.
