Afghanistan is in the midst of a prolonged humanitarian crisis marked by conflict, displacement, and forced returns of refugees. The situation worsened in 2016 with a significant increase in internal displacements and the return of Afghan refugees from neighboring countries. The EU's plan to deport rejected asylum seekers further strains the country. This crisis, affecting almost a third of the population, is intensifying due to security deterioration and increased deportations.

The public services, particularly in urban areas where displaced individuals settle, are overwhelmed. Approximately 1.57 million people face severe food insecurity, with women and girls disproportionately affected. International assistance, especially from the EU, is crucial. The UN Human Rights Council should advocate for an end to forced deportations, and the EU should reconsider deportations given the worsening security conditions.

Additionally, Afghanistan is grappling with a severe water crisis, with only 48 percent of the population having access to safe drinking water. Drought conditions further exacerbate challenges, impacting nearly 50 percent of the country. COVID-19 and ongoing hostilities add to the hardships, leaving millions reliant on humanitarian aid.

To address the water crisis, a proposal outlines collaboration with the Humanitarian Assistance Society (HAS) in Kabul to identify communities in need of clean water. HAS will prepare project proposals, and a fundraising campaign is initiated to secure funds for implementing clean water supply systems for affected families. The objective is to urgently address water needs in vulnerable communities.

To ensure the success of this program, we call upon the public and generous donors to contribute to their share in the hereafter, you can donate at any amount through online banking or QR code.

Proposal Afghanistan Clean Water Project
